 Donald Trump Wins Presidential Nomination

The historic 2016 U.S. presidential election ended with republican candidate, Donald Trump, closing out a victory over the democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.

Trump won a total of 304 out of 538 electoral votes, winning him the election, while Clinton led the popular vote by a small margin.

After the winner was announced, Clinton delivered her concession speech, where she shed light on what she wants to see in the future of the country.

“I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans,” Said Clinton, “Being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

In her speech, the former first lady also touched on what the campaign meant to her.

“Our campaign was never about one person or even one election,” Said Clinton, “It was about the country we love and about building an America that’s helpful, inclusive and big-hearted.”

“I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too, and so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort.” Clinton said.

As one candidate gave their final speech, the presidential elect, Trump, delivered a victory speech that focused on the country coming together as one.

“Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division, we have to get together,” Trump said, “To all Republicans and Democrats and Independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people.”

After being announced as the presidential nomination, Trump highlighted his respect for his opposing candidate, Clinton. He then turned his attention to his plans for the country.

“Every single American will have the opportunity to realize his or her fullest potential.” Said Trump.

It was an exciting election, as it featured the first female to gain a main party’s nomination, and a republican nomination who had never served in congress or as a governor.

Leading up to election day, Clinton was shining in the polls. However, the only result that matters was decided on Nov. 8.
